Quick start

Set up Purple Lab Virtual Try-On in this order:

  1. Install the app from the Shopify App Store and approve the requested scopes.
  2. Choose the right plan under Billing & Plans. Every paid plan includes at least 150 credits and rollover.
  3. Add the widget to product templates via Online Store → Themes → Customize → Add block → "AI Virtual Try-On Button".
  4. Prepare product assets: upload front, side and back product images (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB) and enable try-on per product.
  5. Generate an internal test on the "Test Purple Lab Virtual Try-On" page to check the output before going live.

Tip: Set per-session, daily, hourly, and network limits in Settings before enabling the widget on high-traffic products.

  • Use per-session, daily, hourly, and network limits to control usage.
  • Review the dashboard and usage page for product and credit activity.

Setup and configuration

Choosing a view for each product

  • Single view: fast catalog coverage, or accessories.
  • Double view: the recommended default for apparel. Front and back keep cost and realism balanced.
  • Triple view: hero products or premium drops where the profile and back matter.

Theme integration

The Purple Lab Virtual Try-On block works with Online Store 2.0 themes and supports dynamic sections. Place it near your primary "Add to Cart" button so shoppers can find it easily.

Questions

How does Purple Lab Virtual Try-On work?

Purple Lab Virtual Try-On sends the selected shopper photo and product image to Google Gemini to create a visual apparel preview. Output and processing time vary with the inputs and provider traffic.

What types of products see the best results?

Upper-body apparel with a clear product image is the recommended starting point. Results vary by category and input quality; avoid low-resolution assets and busy backgrounds.

How does the credit system work?

Credits track the number of views the AI generates. Single view uses 1 credit, double view uses 2, and triple view uses 3. Paid overflow is currently unavailable, so generation pauses when the balance is exhausted.

How do I add the try-on button to product pages?
  1. From Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  2. Navigate to a product template and click Add block.
  3. Select "AI Virtual Try-On Button" from the Apps section and configure the button text and colors.
  4. Save and preview on desktop and mobile.
Can customers save and share their try-on results?

Customers can download the current result, open a prefilled WhatsApp message, or use the device share sheet when their browser supports it. Purple Lab does not send a message automatically.

What happens when I uninstall the app?

Shopify manages subscription cancellation. Purple Lab processes Shopify's required shop-redaction webhook to remove app-owned store data and stored assets. Records that must be retained for legal or accounting reasons may be handled separately. Contact support with your shop domain if you have a deletion question.

How does Purple Lab handle shopper privacy?

The storefront explains photo processing before upload, minimizes stored shopper data, and supports Shopify privacy requests. See the Privacy Policy for the current data practices and contact details.

Troubleshooting

The Try-On button is not appearing
  1. Ensure the block is added and visible within the theme editor.
  2. Check that JavaScript is enabled on your storefront.
  3. Clear the browser cache or preview in a private window.
"Failed to generate try-on" error
  1. Verify credits remain in your account.
  2. Confirm the product has all required image angles configured.
  3. Re-upload the customer image, with clear chest-up framing.
  4. If the issue persists, contact support with details about the error.
Slow generation times

Most requests complete within 30 seconds. Longer durations typically relate to peak AI load or oversized source images. Resize product imagery to 3000px or less on the longest edge for best results.
